SHAUN BAKER
After leaving the UK in the eighties and setting up home in Germany Shaun Baker began his DJ career first playing in small clubs and working his way up to larger venues. It did not take long before he was playing his power packed DJ sets worldwide.
The music producing side of his career started in 1997. The first productions being mainly commercial dance tracks, some of the first tracks where very successful reaching peak positions in many European dance charts.
Shauns first entry in the sales charts came with „Explode“ project Jordan & Baker (2 entries in the German sales charts). „Explode“ produced together with Gamba's (Trak MusiK) has advanced to being a classic Trance track finding its way into many big name DJ boxes and still being played as a dance floor filler to this date. In 2005 „Explode“ was remixed by E-Craig and Steve Murano. „Explode“ was also very successful in Holland, France, Switzerland, Poland, Spain and many other countries.
2005 finds Shaun teaming up with Sebastian Wolter & Olav Bel Goe. The first production „Xplode 2“ resulted in breaking all German dance chart records by reaching #1 in EVERY German dance chart at the same time making „Xplode 2“ the German dance chart hit of 2005. „Xplode 2“ also entered the German sales charts and stayed there for 9 weeks.
2006 Olav decided to leave the team to concentrate on other projects. Shaun & Sebastian produced the follow up to „Xplode 2“: „Push/Deep“, which also made big waves in the dance community and once again landed the top positions in the dance charts and entered the German sales charts.
The next step Shaun & Sebastian took was to take the „Baker sound“ to a new level with the 3rd single from the new team: a house cover of the classic Laid Back track „Bakerman“. Laid Back were so impressed with Shaun & Sebastians version that they invited them to Copenhagen to listen to new tracks and discuss future co-op work. Laid Back also gave Shaun & Sebastian permission to use the original video, which 1989 helped „Bakerman“ to become an international hit. After reaching the peak positions in various European dance charts „Bakerman“ also entered the single sales charts. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland and various other countries „Bakerman“ reached high sales chart positions. In Germany it entered the top 40 and stayed 10 weeks in the sales charts.
The summer of 2007 saw Shaun & Sebastian founding their very own record label called UPTUNES. The first release on UPTUNES was the new Shaun Baker single „Power“ which after only one week of being released landed in the vinyl sales charts at #1. The first vinyls being sold out within one week without any DJ/Club promotion. One month later „Power” cracked the No.1 position in the Germany DJ Charts. Of course UPTUNES will not only be releasing Shaun Baker singles but also other artist tracks.
The success story continued with the 7th single „V.I.P“, which was not only a great success in Germany but became a real radio hit in Eastern Europe and reached #1 of the sale charts in Poland and Czech Republic.
The follow up single „Hey Hi Hello” won the highly acclaimed music award
Sopot Hit Festival in Poland and enjoyed a very long stay in the Polish radio & sales charts, altogether „Hey Hi Hello” spent 6 weeks at No.1.
One month later this success was repeated in the Czech Republic.
August 2009 and Shaun Baker with his new single Give! hits yet again the #1 in the Polish sales & airplay charts. No other artist has had three #1 hits in a period of less than two years, which means Shaun has found his place in music history.
Shaun Baker prides himself on not just being a DJ but also an entertainer a man who can adapt to small & large, commercial & progressive venues. He is truly in love with the music and likes to describe his musical style as „universal music“. He has no interest in being confined to one music style as he can feel comfortable playing „groovy house“ in a small house club in Taiwan or playing Trance to 20.000 people at an open air event like Sopot Beach party in Poland.
Anyone who has seen Shaun Baker at „work“ will find him hard to forget due to his unique turntable style and his extrovert personality.
